  • Add an optional detail view to any pin when the full screenshot is not enough. Adjust the area directly on the canvas, then carry the same numbered close-up through Preview, Copy, PNG, PDF, and PowerPoint.

  • The editor has a calmer, more focused layout. The canvas stays central while comments and Copy remain close at hand, so building a clear fix request feels lighter from start to finish.

  • Tellshot can now launch when you log in. Turn it on from Settings, or accept the one-time suggestion that appears only after you have had time to get to know the app.

  • Capture Front Page Now works more reliably with Dia. Tellshot now uses the browser's stable tab identity to find the page actually in front instead of falling back to page selection.

  • New

    A minimap for long pages.

    Long full-page captures now include a minimap in the editor. Click, drag, or use the keyboard to move through the page while the canvas stays in sync.

  • Improved

    Capture the tab you actually selected.

    Tellshot re-checks the selected browser tab just before capture. If the tab moved to another address or was closed, capture pauses and asks you to choose again instead of capturing the wrong page.

  • Privacy

    Sensitive URL details stay out of history.

    Sensitive query values are redacted and URL fragments are removed before web-capture addresses are stored or included in fix requests. Compatible existing history is cleaned up automatically.

  • Security

    Stronger safeguards behind every web capture.

    Web capture now applies stronger safety checks across IPv4, IPv6, DNS changes, redirects, and content loaded by the page, while continuing to allow public HTTPS pages.

Capture a whole web page — at any width, in one shot.

  • New

    A whole page. Your choice of width.

    New “Capture Web Page…” (⌥⇧8): capture the front tab of Safari, Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, or Dia — or any pasted https:// address — as one tall screenshot. Choose a width from phone (375) to desktop (1920), your screen width, or a custom width, and full page or visible area. It opens in the editor like any capture, with the page URL and viewport carried into your fix request.

  • New

    Your last settings, one shortcut away.

    Press ⌥⇧9 to capture the front tab instantly with your last settings — no panel. If Tellshot can’t read the tab, it tells you why and opens the panel instead.

  • Improved

    Tall screenshots, easier to work with.

    Tall captures are easier to work with: the editor opens them fit-to-width from the top, and thumbnails show the top of the page instead of a thin sliver. A progress HUD shows “screen n of N” while a page is being captured.

  • Improved & fixed

    A clearer update. A smoother finish.

    After an update, a short What’s New window shows what changed — once. Fixes: full-page web captures no longer stretch on Retina displays, and the review tray always closes after you finish.

Bundle screenshots into a review document — straight from History.

  • Select multiple screenshots in the History window (⌘-click) and turn them into one PDF / PowerPoint document, pages in capture order. Capture freely first, organize later — your quick capture-and-copy flow is untouched.

  • Tellshot is now a proper Mac citizen: a standard menu bar (File / View / Help) with full keyboard shortcuts, and every window remembers its position and size.

  • A quieter, smoother feel throughout: glass-material toasts, gentle fades, pin hover feedback, and a refreshed sidebar rhythm — all respecting Reduce Motion and Reduce Transparency.

  • A refined editor: split copy menu, an always-visible output preview, a decluttered toolbar, and window titles that show which app you captured. VoiceOver support is much stronger across the app.

Capture right-click menus — and no more editor photobombs.

  • Area capture now freezes the screen the instant you press the shortcut. Context menus, dropdowns, and popovers stay in your screenshot even though they close the moment you click — you select calmly on a frozen frame.

  • Starting a capture no longer brings Tellshot's own editor to the front. The screen is captured exactly as you arranged it, so shooting twice in a row no longer nests the editor inside your screenshot.

Send feedback right from the menu bar.

  • A new “Send Feedback…” menu item opens a short form in your language — bug reports, requests, and impressions go straight to the developer. Two minutes, no sign-in.

Pins now carry on-screen context into your fix request.

  • When you copy, each comment arrives with the actual label near the pin — “1. Make this stand out (on screen: ‘Checkout’ button)”. Powered by local OCR and accessibility info, with a context row under each comment to edit or exclude it.

  • A refreshed template set that shows what Tellshot is for: Ask ChatGPT to Fix It, Fix It in Cursor, Ask Your AI App Builder (Lovable / v0 / Bolt), Report a Bug (GitHub Issues etc.), and Ask Your Team on Slack. Edited templates are never touched.

  • Fixed: with “Close editor after copying” enabled, two-step templates closed the editor before the fix-request text could be copied.

SafeToShare catches credit cards and IP addresses too.

  • Credit card numbers are now flagged before you share — 13–19 digits with spaces or dashes, validated with the Luhn check so order numbers and phone numbers don't clutter the list.

  • IP addresses (IPv4 and IPv6, including shortened forms) are detected as well. Loopback addresses and version strings like v1.2.3.4 are excluded, so everyday dev screenshots stay noise-free.

  • Detection quality in English was verified end-to-end with real OCR — one false positive and two misses fixed along the way.

Crash recovery: pick up right where you left off.

  • If Tellshot didn't quit properly, the next launch offers to reopen the screenshot or review document you were working on — restored from the latest auto-save with one click.

  • Auto-save keeps protecting your work as before; the prompt never appears after a normal quit.

Installing is now a single double-click.

  • Double-click Tellshot inside the disk image and it offers to move itself to Applications — then copies over, reopens from there, ejects the disk image, and puts the DMG in the Trash. One dialog, zero housekeeping.

  • Dragging to Applications still works exactly as before.

Mendaco is now Tellshot — new name, new icon, and DMG distribution.

  • Rebranded from Mendaco to Tellshot: new name, new icon, new app identity.

  • Distribution switched to a DMG disk image, which installs reliably regardless of which browser you download with.

  • Fixed: onboarding now resumes correctly after the “quit and reopen” step of granting Screen Recording permission.

First Tellshot-branded release.

  • Replaced by 0.5.1 shortly after publishing, due to an onboarding bug found in QA.

  • Review documents: keep capturing, collect screenshots into one fix-request document, reorder and edit pages, and export as PDF or PowerPoint (.pptx).

  • Screen-recording permission self-healing: clearer guidance when permission is denied, with a single path to re-request and open System Settings.

  • Hands-on onboarding: a tutorial driven by actually pressing the shortcuts, plus a progress card inside the editor.

  • Skipping onboarding no longer loses progress — resume any time from “How to Use…” in the menu.

First beta build, with auto-updates.

  • Import images from a file or the clipboard and annotate them like any capture.

  • Crop tool in the editor.

  • Smoother two-step copy for apps that can't take image + text in one paste.

  • Optional, anonymous crash reports (off in Settings any time).

  • Automatic updates via Sparkle — this build was the first distributed through the update feed.

What changed in each release. Tellshot updates itself via the built-in updater — it checks automatically, then either asks before installing or updates quietly in the background, depending on the choice you made in the update dialog.
